Research Fellow Impact Evaluation (718)

Hours per week:  35 (1.0 FTE)
Contract type:  Permanent

IDS is seeking to appoint a senior, established researcher with an international reputation for innovative interdisciplinary work in the area of Impact Evaluation. We are interested in someone who can bring innovative approaches, designs and methods to the evaluation of development impact in complex and dynamic settings. An orientation toward mixed methods would be particularly welcome.

The appointee will join one of the IDS research clusters and will be expected to provide leadership to the  Centre for Development Impact (CDI) . CDI contributes to learning and innovation in the field of impact evaluation, through the use of appropriate, mixed method, and robust evaluation designs. It is a joint initiative between IDS, ITAD and the University of East Anglia (UEA).

Applicants should have a PhD in economics or social science with a strong commitment to working across discipline (or very exceptionally comparable research and practical experience), an excellent research and publication record, and a commitment to bridge research, practice and policy.

A demonstrated capacity to work in a multidisciplinary team and highly creative and cutting-edge group of researchers, teachers and communicators and partners from a wide range of backgrounds is essential along with practical experience in the field.

Finally, it is vital that applicants demonstrate a track record of fundraising, obtaining grants, research awards and consultancies to allow them to pursue both independent and collaborative research.
